Last month's TADS meeting; December 2007

News from the AGM held on 19 December 2007

The Chairman, Bob Brown, reported on the activities of the last year. These had included some very good talks and a couple of outings.

The excellent news was that because Derek Heath had volunteered to be the new Programme Organiser, the Society would be able to continue in the manner to which we have become accustomed. Derek is still working on the programme so it was not possible to reveal more than the first two talks.

Carol Sevens reported on the work of the Project Group. They have published two editions of Project News in the past year. Carol explained that while the Project Team has a core membership, there are many other people that help for a specific job in which they have expertise or interest. If you have any topic that you think would be work investigating and writing up in Project News, Carol would like to know. The Team are now working very hard producing a new version of the Florence Davidson 'History of Tadley'. This has been out of print for some time. The new version will have photographs and explanatory notes about aspects of the text, to put things in context nearly 100 years after it was written. This project has been awarded a grant by B&D Council, but the grant is conditional on the booklet being published before March!

Jim Coles, Treasurer, reported that the accounts had been passed by the scrutineer without problem. A small profit had been made over the year and there was no need to change the rate of subscriptions.

The committee was re-elected without opposition and is:

Chairman - Bob Brown

Vice-Chairman - Derek Ward

Treasurer - Jim Coles

Minute Sec. & Website - Ian Burn

Programme Organiser - Derek Heath

Project Team Leader - Carol Stevens

Archivist - Peter McNulty

Outings Organiser - David Day

Newsletter Editor - Richard Brown

Bob expressed his thanks to the committee members, for all their work, and everyone else who contributes to the successful running of TADS.

Various aspects of the Society's activities were discussed, and all present seemed to be happy with the conduct of affairs.

Following the formal meeting the members enjoyed a buffet with mulled wine, and the opportunity to look assorted artifacts put on display by various members.
